In 2003, Ipsos-Reid was contracted by Heritage Canada to do a study designed to measure the impact that involvement in the arts has on students and their families. Their findings showed that:

"Involvement with the arts is considered a means for children to be successful outside the school system; it builds self-esteem and confidence; it develops both the mind and the focus of the child; and it helps develop self-discipline and motivates independent thinking. Ninety percent of the Arts Umbrella students interviewed, both past and current, said arts exposure had a positive impact on them and 86% of alumni were still involved in the arts in some way."

You can make a difference for young people in our community by ensuring that all children have an equal opportunity to participate in the artsREACH program, regardless of their family's financial situation.
